Pause privacy policy

App: Pause: Mindful Scroll Blocker (com.sreeharim.pause) · Developer: Sreehari M · Effective 24 October 2026

In short: Pause does not collect, store on any server, sell or share any of your data. It has no internet access. Everything it keeps stays on your phone.

What Pause does

Pause shows a short countdown before an app you've chosen (for example a social media app) opens, so you can decide whether you really want to open it.

Accessibility service

To know when one of your chosen apps opens, Pause uses Android's Accessibility service. It is used only for this purpose:

Pause reads only the package name of the app that comes to the front of the screen (for example com.instagram.android).
Pause does not read the content of any screen, window or app, and does not read your messages, passwords or anything you type.
Pause does not perform actions in other apps on your behalf.
This information is used immediately on your device to decide whether to show the countdown and is not sent anywhere.

You are asked to agree to this before Pause sends you to Android's Accessibility settings, and you can turn the service off at any time in Settings → Accessibility.

Data stored on your phone

Pause saves the following only in its private storage on your device:

The list of apps you chose to pause.
Your settings (countdown length, grace period, appearance) and any messages you write.
Simple daily counts: how many times each chosen app was paused, skipped or opened anyway. Counts older than 35 days are deleted automatically.

To see the list of your apps, Pause reads the names and icons of apps installed on your phone. This list is only shown to you and is never stored or shared.

This data is not included in Android's cloud backup. Uninstalling Pause, or clearing its storage in Android settings, deletes all of it.

What Pause does not do

No internet permission, so it cannot send data anywhere.
No accounts, analytics, advertising, tracking or third-party SDKs.
No data is sold or shared with anyone.

Children

Pause is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
